Engineering in Oklahoma
Engineers are in high demand in Oklahoma.
According to a 2022 report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, there are between 1,900 and 3,340 engineers working Oklahoma. BLS has predicted that Oklahoma will need 3,000 new engineers annually for the next nine years. The following organizations are leading the way in advancing the profession of engineering in Oklahoma!
American Council of Engineering Companies, Oklahoma Chapter
The ACEC OKLAHOMA and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) are the only state and national engineering organizations devoted exclusively to advancing the business interests of consulting engineering firms. While there are many technical and professional societies promoting the practice of engineering, ACEC OKLAHOMA and ACEC concentrate on the business of design consulting. Mike Thompson is the Executive Director.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers, OSU
ASME’s goal is to promote ethics and fellowship among mechanical engineering students at OSU.

IEEE, Region 5 – Southwestern US
A non-profit organization, IEEE is the world’s leading professional association for the advancement of technology. The IEEE name was originally an acronym for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. Today, the organization’s scope of interest has expanded into so many related fields, that it is simply referred to by the letters I-E-E-E (pronounced Eye-triple-E).

Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers
Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) was formed as a state Society of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in 1935, dedicated to the promotion, protection, and advancement of the profession of engineering as a social and economic influence vital to the public welfare. OSPE has a vision to become the premier Oklahoma engineering organization representing and advocating all disciplines of engineering to the public. Kris Sanders is the Executive Director.
Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
The mission of the PELS Board is to safeguard life, health and property, and to promote the public welfare, the practice of
engineering and land surveying are declared to be subject to regulation in the public interest. Kathy Hart is the Executive Director.
Oklahoma Structural Engineers Association
OSEA is the only professional organization exclusively devoted to the representation and advancement of the structural engineer and structural engineering in Oklahoma.
