Building the Foundation
Give TodayOEF’s Legacy Since 1976
Following its establishment in 1976, the Oklahoma Engineering Foundation took a major step forward in 1979 by helping establish a permanent home for Oklahoma’s engineering community.
At the time, leaders in the profession recognized the need for a central space where engineering organizations could come together, collaborate, and advance the field. Through generous contributions from individuals, companies, and professional societies across the state, the building fund campaign became a reality.
The donor plaque still displayed today tells that story. It reflects a broad base of support, from major corporate partners to individual engineers who believed in the future of the profession. Every name represents an investment not just in a building, but in engineering education, advocacy, and community.
The Oklahoma Engineering Design Center has since served as a hub for multiple engineering organizations, strengthening connections across disciplines and generations. It stands as a lasting symbol of what can be accomplished when a profession comes together with a shared purpose.
In the early 2000s, OEF sold the building to the State of Oklahoma. Proceeds from the sale were invested with the Oklahoma City Community Foundation and today largely support OEF’s college scholarship endowment. The building continues to serve as home to several organizations, including the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors, the Oklahoma Board of Architects, ACEC Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers, and the Oklahoma Engineering Foundation.
More than four decades later, that same belief in the profession of engineering continues to guide OEF’s work. The building is not just a place. It is a foundation for the future of engineering in Oklahoma.Â
On April 12, 2026, OEF will celebrate its 50th Anniversary. In the days ahead, we will share how you can be part of what comes next.
This milestone is an opportunity to build on the same foundation of generosity and vision that made the Oklahoma Engineering Design Center possible. Our $50,000 for our 50th Campaign will support scholarships, expand STEM outreach, and strengthen programs that prepare the next generation of engineers.
We look forward to sharing more with you on Sunday, April 12.
